The opening chords of Liverpool's year as European Capital of Culture will be played in January 2008 when the themed Beatles boutique Hard Days Night Hotel opens
Liverpool will have its first themed Beatles hotel in January 2008, the first month of its year as European Capital of Culture. The Hard Day's Night Hotel will be open 'Eight Days a Week' from January, just a short stroll from the site of the famous Cavern Club in the Beatles Quarter of Liverpool. The Fab Four still bring millions of visitors to Merseyside every year.
The Beatles Hard Day's Night Hotel will be a 4-star boutique hotel with 110 rooms in a Grade II listed building. The 110 rooms include executive rooms and two penthouse suites: the Lennon Suite and the McCartney Suite. The Lennon Suite will feature that iconic John Lennon item, a white grand piano.
The Beatles Liverpool hotel will also feature specially commissioned Beatles and Liverpool artwork by artist Shannon, which from the basement to the roof of the hotel, in the guest rooms and in the public areas, will tell the Beatles' story.
There will also be a Beatles 'reunion' at the hotel, with individual statues of the four Beatles in their separate post-Fab Four careers. The statues, named 'Together Again' and created by local sculptor Dave Webster, will be 30-feet up on the front of the hotel, guaranteed to give visitors something to photograph.
The Hard Day's Night Beatles hotel will also have two restaurants serving modern British cuisine: The Brasserie and Blakes. Blakes will have a separate entrance for non-residents and the walls will be decorated with images designed by Sir Peter Blake and inspired by his famous cover for the Beatles' Sergeant Pepper album. The Brasserie will feature what the hotel hopes will become a 'must-see' at the Hard Day's Night: the artwork from Shannon will shift and change during the day to adapt to the changing ambience of the Brasserie.
In addition to the two restaurants, the Hard Day's Night Hotel will also feature two bars: Bar Four and the cleverly-named Hari's Bar. The hotel's facilities will also include two conference rooms for corporate events and private entertaining, as well as a wedding chapel for those who want a Beatles Merseyside marriage. If you can get married Elvis-style in Las Vegas, why not get married at a Beatles hotel in Liverpool? No doubt the hotel will do what it can to ensure newly-weds don't really have a Hard Day's Night.
The opening of the Hard Day's Night Beatles-themed hotel in January 2008 is perfectly timed to coincide with the launch of Liverpool's year as European Capital of Culture.
