Clubbing, Live Music, Pubs: Camden Town Hosts some of the Best
Camden Town plays host to some of London’s most exciting clubs and pubs. At the Purple Turtle on 65 Crowndale Road clubbers can go wild, behave outrageously, wear what they please, stomp as energetically as they’re able, and listen to music as loud as their eardrums can handle.
Since 1938, Camden clubbers have enjoyed music from country to punk at the Electric Ballroom, 184 Camden High Street. Entertainers as diverse as Jim Reeves and Sid Vicious have performed at this historic venue in Camden’s heartland. On Sundays the Electric Ballroom is transformed into an indoor fashion market where Goth, retro, vintage and classic Punk clothing prevails.
Worlds End at 174 Camden High Street is just across the road from the tube station. Depending on the night, entertainment varies from classic hits of the 80s to rock and metal. Downstairs in the same building is The Underworld where clubbers can get up close and personal to performers who have included Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins and Alabama 3.
The Lock Tavern on 45 Chalk Farm Road is an appealing mix of old and new where diners can enjoy an old-fashioned Sunday roast as well as more contemporary cuisine. Gastro pubs such as the Royal Albert 163 Royal College Street are a great find with their focus on natural and sustainably sourced ingredients.
