Staying in London doesn't have to be expensive. Choices include 5-star luxury hotels, hostels, apartments and college campus rooms at prices to suit every budget.

Bloomsbury is located just east of the West End and is within walking distance of shops, theatres, restaurants and cafes, as well as numerous tourist attractions.

British Museum - One of London's Popular Tourist Attractions

One of London's most popular attractions, located in Bloomsbury, is the British Museum. Described as "a museum of the world, for the world", tourists from all over the world come to visit. Because more and more travellers come for long weekends or mid-week breaks there is an ever-increasing demand for accommodation in the area.

While London is renowned for luxury hotels, there are plenty of other low-cost choices to be found, such as rooms and dormitories in youth hostels or rooms and apartments in the capital's university and college halls of residence. Here is a selection of hotels, rooms and apartments at prices to suit every pocket.

Accommodation at London School of Economics and University of London

  • LSE, High Holborn. The LSE (London School of Economics) offers single, double and triple rooms in modern self-catering apartments. Rooms available from July to September, from £26-£35.
  • John Dodgson House, Bloomsbury. John Dodgson House (University of London) is a beautiful Regency building. All rooms have ensuite shower. Rooms available from June to September, prices from £26-£35.

Accommodation at Back-Packer Hostels and Youth Hostels

  • Astor's Museum Inn, Bloomsbury. Astor's is run by back-packers so they know about low-cost accommodation and the needs of budget-restricted travellers between the ages of 18-25.
  • YHA St Pancras. This 4-star hostel (graded by the English Tourist Board) will re-open on 8th April 2009 after substantial renovations. Price: up to £30 per person per night. Prices are for YHA and Hostelling International members. Non-members pay a supplement of £3.00 per night (Adult) and £1.50 (Under 18) on arrival (equivalent to a daily membership).

Hotels in Bloomsbury, Close to British Museum

  • Crescent Hotel, Bloomsbury. A family-run small, friendly hotel, close to the Eurostar terminal at St Pancras, offers rooms in the price range £49-£100.
  • Park Inn, Bloomsbury. This 4-star hotel, which has recently been fully renovated to a high standard, is close to Russell Square Underground station. The Piccadilly Line provides a direct route to Heathrow Airport. Prices from £150-£200 per person per night.
  • Holiday Inn, Bloomsbury. Located just off Russell Square.This modern hotel won Best Disabled Facilities Award 2007 "Accessibility for All" at the Meetings and Incentive Travel Awards. Prices in the price range £150-£280.
  • Montague on the Gardens, Bloomsbury. A 4-star hotel offering two restaurants, a bar, lounge, two conservatories as well as an outdoor barbecue area. Live jazz is on offer twice a week. Rooms from £175.
