London offers so many different attractions it's hard to decide what to do. Travelers should consider adding some of the following options to their must-do list.

Whether one is in London for business or pleasure, there is plenty to do is this great city that is full activities and attractions. Here are a few that should not be overlooked.

Kensington Palace and The Orangery

This beautiful palace, located in Kensington Park, was once the home of kings and queens and was the former residence of Princess Diana until her death in 1997. The Palace took center stage when the mourners of Princess Diana left over one million flowers at the gates. Visiting this place also puts the traveler into a time capsule that takes one back to ornate rooms from the time of William and Mary.

After visiting the palace and browsing the Kensington Gardens, make sure to stop in the Orangery for some afternoon tea.

Ceremony of the Keys

The longest running show in London is the Ceremony of the Keys at the Tower of London, which has been conducted in the same way every night for over 700 years. This amazing event remains somewhat under the radar because it requires a written request for admission at least two months in advance and groups are kept relatively small. Those who make the effort to attend are treated to the opportunity to be up close at an event which carries on a centuries-old tradition. The event is free and runs from 9:30 p.m. to approximately 10:05 p.m. every night.

Those who want a bird’s eye view of London will find it by riding the London Eye, one of Europe’s most popular attractions. The large wheel rises up above the River Thames, offering a new perspective on the city. Making reservations ahead of time will allow visitors to avoid long lines. After riding the London Eye, one can embark on a cruise of the River Thames from the same location.

Musicals on the West End

The Broadway across the pond, London is known for its theater district in the West End. Some theaters include Broadway transfers such as Wicked and Chicago as well as London originals. One of the most notable current shows is Billy Elliott, the story of a boy who wants to dance while growing up in blue-collar County Durham in northern England during the mid-1980s. The show is well done and will have patrons in awe that a 13-year-old boy can carry the show with such strength.
