Weather permitting, Oxford is best seen by foot. But any seasoned walker knows that sooner or later, the pangs of hunger will be too sharp to ignore. Luckily, the city of dreaming spires is also a city of many sandwiches--so you can grab a delcious meal and enjoy it on the go, or perched on a bench watching the city happenings.

The seven best places to find a quality sandwich in Oxford:

1. Olive’s

Tiny, gourmet Olive’s is a must-visit no matter what your sandwich whims. They have fun things to look at while standing in line (French spreads, Italian wines, pastas, biscuits, olive oils, vinegars, sodas, candies), as well as cheery staff and a selection of fresh breads, cheeses, meats, vegetables, spreads, and sauces to make your made-to-order, enormous sandwich as delicious as possible. For a true treat, try the Olive’s Favorite baguette, with basil, mozzerela, parma ham, and sun-blushed tomatoes.
